David’s artistic life
David Underwood III is an artist unlike any other. As a child, they devoted themselves to academics and almost every extracurricular activity offered at school. By junior high, they were performing as a lead clarinetist, percussionist, and pianist while being the clumsiest midfielder on the field and the shortest wing on the court. It wasn’t until halfway through their college preparatory high school years that David found dance through colorguard, in which they quickly excelled, going on two national tours with a world-class drum and bugle corps. David’s experience as an eclectic artist was filtered and refined through AMDA College of the Performing Arts, where they graduated with a B.F.A. in dance theater. Since completing their degree, David has traveled the world performing dance, acrobatics, and pole dancing. They have had the chance to work with some of the most exclusive and popular cruise lines, like Celebrity Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, and Virgin Voyages. When they are not performing on the high seas, David also instructs pole dancing classes, inspiring the community that initially encouraged them to pursue their passion for performing. David is rarely stagnant; but when they are, they enjoy playing instruments, sketching, reading, or researching any fascinating topic. David is guided by a simple mantra, “have fun and learn something.” With this principle paired with their instinctive enthusiasm for generosity, David plans on a long, vibrant career.
